Item Description
1.25" Exc. design featuring the state sunflower motif surrounding explorer in period uniform of armor and cape with Catholic priest walking alongside. Text reads "Coronado Quarto Centennial/1541/Lyons Kansas/1941." A quality button but no maker's name and probably as issued, no backpaper. In 1941 and/or 1942 the federal government organized Coronado-Quarto Centennial celebrations with activities along the geographic route in Kansas which Coronado supposedly traveled. Nicely designed and the first we've seen. The "1541" date on this button is the earliest actual date in American history that we've ever seen referenced on a button. Comes with Hake's COA.
