Item Description
These items were issued along with an "Official Handbook" showing premiums by Quaker cereals in 1942. The rare "Altascope" ring shown in that handbook is offered as our following item. This lot consists of 3.5x5.5" stiff paper folder from which the decoder was cut as intended from the back cover. Folder has extensive text on the use of the decoder and on the back cover were 2 coded messages which have been partially de-coded in penciled lettering. One side of the decoder has neat ink inscription of original owner's name on the appropriate lines. The 1x2-9/16" metal whistle carries the name and initials of "The Safety Guard" club. Blasts on this whistle could be done in code to communicate over distances. Very minor paint wear on the edges of the whistle and the dark red painted reverse. This piece is VF while the decoder and folder are clean and Exc.
