Item Description
8" tall barber stands on 4x6.5x2" tall tin litho base. Barber and small bear are plush. Small bear has tin litho face parts as does the barber plus the addition of "Winkey" eyes. By Nomura Toys, Japan, 1950s. Colorful box has great illustrations. Shows barber and baby bear admiring his work in the mirror plus mother bear pulling baby into the shop while he holds onto barber pole. Lid has inside tape repairs to one side and at one corner. Staple holes on one side as well. Color rubs and corner damage. Light spotting. VG. Toy works and barber has moving comb and scissors that open and close as his head moves. Baby bear then admires himself in mirror and squeaks. Barber's rubber hands have a few stress lines. At one point, the mirror had come off the baby bear's hand and has now been re-attached. Tin parts have just a few pinpoint paint nicks. Slight aging to barber's coat and one small brown spot on baby bear's cloth cover. Fine overall. A nice example of this classic battery toy.
