Item Description
Issued for the end of Prohibition (see item #30) with 1934 copyright. 3.75x10.5x10.5" tall titled on the base "The Spirit Of The U.S.A." Done in white metal with metallic silver/gray finish. Depicted are "Roosevelt" at top, "Gen. H. S. Johnson" at left and "Miss F. Perkins" at right. Johnson administered part of NRA and was 1933 Time Magazine man of the year. Perkins was Secretary of Labor. Colorful dial has name of United Clock Corp., Brooklyn. Clock winds up and as seconds tick off, the bartender moves his arm with hand holding cocktail shaker up and down. Bkg. is a dining and dancing scene with 11 people. Tiny age dot on dial edge and trivial dent on copper luster bezel. Wind-up clock keeps time. However, meant to hold pair of very small light bulbs. Electric cord looks ok, but no guarantee that lights are workable. Missing felt cover under the base. Typical small luster loss. Another of the scarcer designs.
