Item Description
The New York State Libertarian Party nominated radio personality Howard Stern as their candidate for the office of Governor. Stern later refused to make his personal financial information public and decided to refuse the nomination. This required him to file an official Certificate Of Declination. One notarized copy signed by Stern dated August 10, 1994 was filed with the New York State Board of Elections. The item being offered here one of two duplicate originals from the files of Stern's attorney. The duplicate has been signed in ink on the "Signature Of Candidate" line "Howard Stern." As this signed copy was made after the original was notarized for the Election Board, the copy bears the notary information but does not include the notary's embossed seal. The 8.5x11" sheet of paper is titled at the top "Certificate Of Declination" with Stern's name and address typed in (for privacy reasons, we have blocked out his address in our photo). Additional lines of the form include the name of the party, the office and the election date. The sheet has one set of tiny staple holes in the upper left corner, o/w Mint. One of the two executed copies. Comes with Hake's COA.
