Item Description
2.5x3.75" card stock photo for Lydia Thompson (1838-1908). A noted stage actress and burlesque performer in the days before striptease burlesque, when it featured mostly bawdy musical and theatrical parodies of high society. Thompson is noted for introducing the art of burlesque to America in 1868. Vintage sepia-toned card has photo image of her posing with flowers in hand. Reverse has stamped photographer name and New York address, effectively dating this c. 1868-1874, when she returned to London. Light aging and wear. Exc.
