Item Description
Group of six 1.25" buttons issued c. 1900-1912. Small text on each reads "Strawbridge & Clothier Everything In Sporting Goods." Two of the buttons have about 75% of their W&H backpapers remaining while on the other four papers are largely gone. About 4 of the reverses have some fairly heavy rusting but rather limited in area and not really causing any problem. The celluloid fronts are all extremely clean with bright gold color still remaining on the bkgs. The only exceptions are a small spot of darker tone on the "Right Field" button and there is a 1/8" bkg. scratch on the "Centre Field" button that catches reflected light. Likewise on the "Pitcher" button there are a couple of hairlines across the title at the top. The other three buttons are Catcher, Short Stop, Third Base. Overall the fronts display bright and glossy with just small scattered defects on very close inspection. Rarely seen with the imprint of this famous Philadelpha store.
