Item Description
6.5" long mostly tin litho toy by Horikowa, Japan. c. 1962 issued to commemorate John Glenn's first man orbital space flight. Toy is marked on each side "Friendship-7." Has clear plastic window and visible on inside is three dimensional astronaut behind detailed control panel. Figure wears helmet and goggles, suit has small atomic symbols and marked "X-3." Friction works and as toy travels along, a loud siren-like engine noise is heard. Toy has sparking action although this does not work as flint is missing. Scattered trace of paint wear with pinpoint paint nicks but all remains bright and glossy. VF.
