Item Description
9.25x12.25" hardcover published by Wm. Graham Printing Co. copyrighted 1905 C.O. Youngstrand. Book was by the Newspaper Cartoonists' Association of Michigan. First few pages have bw photo portraits of cartoonists of the era with the names of their newspapers underneath. Notable for inclusion of female artist Vera Casseau of the Free Press. Gilt-tipped pages include Ferry Seeds owner; Henry Ford with early automobiles; William Armour, manager of Detroit baseball team with Detroit Tiger mascot; automobile racer Barney Oldfield as well as humorous depictions of men as gladiators, anthropomorphic vegetables dancing around preserves magnate, stock broker with bull and bear, US Marshal leading stereotypical Asian character, cigar maker on large flying cigar, etc. Great content with numerous humorous illustrations. Book shows wear to spine. VF/Exc. Pages with exception of one 5.5" tear are Exc./N. Mint. Additional images online.
