Item Description
Toy No. 173 distributed by Borgfeldt. From 1931. 6.5" tall diecut tin litho w/spring plunger mechanism on back. Depicts Mickey holding a pair of drumsticks and has jointed arms while attached to pants is a separate drum w/his name on the front while top reads "Nifty Jazz Drummer." This is variety w/drum in rwb (also issued w/green/white/orange drum). Complete w/original separate tin tail. Toy works well and when mechanism is activated, the separate drumhead rapidly moves up and down as a drumming noise is produced and in turn causes Mickey's arms to move as if he is drumming. Left arm has a 1/16" spot of bare metal and .25" scratch. Top back edge of drumhead has two small spots of paint wear caused by the drumsticks but not visible when hands are properly positioned. O/w shows just tiniest trace of wear w/some pinpiont paint nicks but remains totally bright and glossy. VF and a much-above average example.
