Item Description
2-1/8" apparently referencing the 8 defendants in Wilmington, NC 1971 arsons, fire bombings and sniper attacks. We've seen a similar button using the number 10 but we think that included the 8 men plus 1 woman plus Ben Chavis who was the field organizer for the United Church of Christ Commission for Racial Justice. We think the 8 refers to the group minus these 2 individuals. The group was convicted and received extensive sentences. Amnesty International took up the cause, CBS ran a special and finally in 1980 a federal court overturned the convictions on a technicality. Curl has name of maker Horn Co. Phila. N. Mint and displays Mint.
