Item numbers 1 though 975 in auction 196
Item Description
1.75" very nice quality photo button, although no maker's name. In 1969 Smith was drafted into the Army. In spite of his war opposition, he respected his family's wishes that he not go to jail and he was sent to Vietnam in October, 1970. On March 15, 1971 a fragmentation grenade exploded in an officer's barracks in Bien Hoa, killing two Lieutenants and wounding a third. Smith's commander Captain Rigby arrived on the scene with his 1st Sergeant and they decided they were the intended victims and that the logical guilty party could only be Pvt. Billy Smith. A 20-month ordeal followed but eventually Smith was found innocent. N. Mint and displays Mint. Scarce.
