Item Description
1.75" shows activist leader of White Panthers, well-known Yippie and manager of music group MC5 who was sentenced in July, 1969 to ten years for possessing two joints. Button was likely issued for event titled "Free John Now Rally" held at Crisler Arena, Ann Arbor, Mich. on 12/10/71 and attended by 15,000 and headlined by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Three days later Michigan Supreme Court ordered Sinclair released and overturned his conviction. Our second example in Auction #193 realized over $400 and has now pulled this third example from the grass roots. Center right has small raised bump noticeable to the touch and caused by the reverse bar pin. Front upper left edge above "Free" has near invisible 1/8" line of tone a hair darker than the surrounding white. Button displays N. Mint.
