Item Description
12.5" long tin litho with built-in key. 1920s. Toy has great appearance with early Bellsnickle-type Santa driving two reindeer who have brass bells attached to their mouths. Toy is illustrated with great scenes of Santa next to fireplace and decorated tree getting toys out of his pack and children dreaming about Santa flying through the air in his sleigh. Back of toy is marked with name plus "Strauss Mechanical Toys" with their trademark world globe with the ring "Known The World Over" text. Also includes patent dates of 21 and 23. Toy works and travels along as Santa moves up and down and back and forth and reindeer are put into motion as well. Santa has a few scratches in back of his hat and some missing paint on high points of his beard from play wear. Sleigh itself has a few scratches and pinpoint paint nicks. Reindeer have a few paint nicks as well. Fine. Still a nice example for display of this beautiful Christmas-themed toy.
