Item Description
10" long by 4.5" tall c. 1940s. Painted plaster. Side of ship reads "447." Coin slot between smoke stacks. Long paper label is attached to bottom w/text including "Destroyer Bank/Copyrighted/This Bank Will Hold $18.75 In Quarters, Dimes, Nickels And Pennies. When Full, Open And Go To The Nearest Bank Or Post Office And Buy A War Bond To Aid Our Country's War Effort...V/Novelty Mfg. Co. New York." Text is repeated on other end of trap. Center has instruction for coin removal. Obvious chipping to bow and chip on stern, side still displays Fine. 11x3.5x4.5" tall box has repeated illustration and text on each side "Victory Ship Bank/Save In This Ship And Buy Bonds." Top and bottom have repeat text similar to that on the ship's bottom. War bond/Minuteman logo appears on each side. Box is missing all end flaps, heavy handling creases/wear. Still Good as display.
