Item Description
12.25x26.25" frame contains thin artboard matted to 5.75x19.5". Contains 4-panel daily strip with pen and ink with zipatone accents by Donald Duck fan-favorite Taliaferro. Taliaferro was the Donald Duck daily strip artist from its inception in 1938 until his death in 1969. First panel has Donald outside "Art Gallery" looking at painting which has sign "Original By Frans Hals $15,000." Second panel shows Donald at "Decorating Shop" looking at same painting which has "A Beautiful Reproduction Of Frans Hals Original $100." Third panel shows Donald walking by trash can with large piece of paper sticking out of it, a thought balloon containing an exclamation point appears over his head. Last panel shows Donald with frame cutting top off a 1955 calendar (which is what he found in the trash) that just so happens to have the image of the "Hals" painting. Third panel has 1956 copyright paste-on and fourth panel has King Features Syndicate paste-on. Strip originally ran Apr. 6, 1956. Yellowing to zipatone but as framed, art displays Exc. Great strip highlighting Donald's spendthrift nature.
