Issued in 1943, this is a complete set of 8 planes, each 1-1/8" litho. The set was created by legendary premium designer Sam Gold. Airplane names are on the button's curl. Brown planes came in two varieties, either with naturalistic clouds and a blue sky bkg. or with obvious artistically-enhanced clouds with obvious accent lines. All four here are the naturalistic style. Paint on this issue was very susceptible to wear. These have been constantly upgraded over the decades. While not perfect, all grade Exc. to N. Mint and display N. Mint with high gloss. Offered as a set of the 8 different airplanes, this is the best set we've seen.
