Item Description
First we've seen this ring which has a solid brass band (ring size 6) with exceptionally high relief portrait of a man on the top with both his head and shoulders garbed Arab-style. Flanking the portrait on the arch-shaped bkg. brass rim are the words "The Sheik." Most luster off the lower bands but vast majority remaining on the upper two-thirds. When Paramount released the movie in 1921, millions of women made Valentino an international heart throb and he is considered the first male superstar. The synopsis of the movie on www.allmovie.com says "The Word 'Sheik' Became Synonymous With Valentino As The Word 'Vamp' Was Associated With The Exotic Theda Bara." An exciting new ring discovery and Rare. Extremely Fine with much luster.
