Item Description
15x20" thick art board has 13.75x16.25" image area done in watercolor showing Davy in coonskin cap and deerskin fringed coat holding flintlock w/powder horn and hatchet at sides. Art is signed "James L. Vlasaty" in lower right corner and was done for cover of 1955 book "Famous Frontiersmen," the Davy Crockett cover replacing the book's planned original cover, to take advantage of Crockett's popularity at the time. Margins show moderate dust soiling/aging, slightly affecting upper left corner of art image but not directly affecting Davy image. If framed, would display VF. Comes w/original paper overlay.
