Item Description
This unique lot pertains to an event held June 30, 1948 in Cheyenne Wyoming in which the name of the town was changed to "Lone Ranger Frontiertown." This was done in honor of the 15th anniversary of The Lone Ranger. First and foremost is the actual proclamation given to Brace Beemer from Wyoming's governor Lester C. Hunt. 7.25x10.5" on Hunt's official letterhead. Reads in full "Lone Ranger: Because You Personify Friendliness-Justice And Fair Play. Because You Have Instilled In Millions Of Young Americans The Philosophy Of The Golden Rule, And For Your Great Contribution To American Boys And Girls For Making America A Better Place To Live, I Take Great Pleasure In Behalf Of My State To Honor You And I Do So By Designating You Officially A Co-Captain Of The Wyoming Highway Courtesy Patrol, And Your Co-Captain, Bradley Will Present You With, And Place On Your Breast The Official Badge Of Your Office." Signed in black ink "Lester Hunt." Reverse has some traces of residue staining and pencil notations. Lt. Handling wear. Fine. Second item is 3.5x6.5" mailing envelope that has the official postmark of the celebration and corresponding date of June 30, 1948. Next is 8x10" photo picturing Brace Beemer as The Lone Ranger along with Governor Hunt and a third unidentified man. Brace stands behind a microphone reading a speech. Reverse of this is marked "LOOK Magazine Photograph" and was an official publicity photo for the magazine. Lt. handling wear. Fine. Final item is October 1948 issue of "Radio & Television Best." Has detailed 2-page article with many photos from the special event. Text even notes the special post office cancellation stamp that was created for the event. Magazine has scattered wear/aging, VG but a great compliment to document the items in this lot including the unique proclamation once owned by Brace Beemer. A truly historic lot and a must-have for any collector/historian of The Lone Ranger.
