Item Description
Heavy metal clock 10" wide by 4" deep and 13" tall finished in cream enamel paint with brown accents. Clock displays Mint and has all of original cord but with plug cut off. Clock is by Gibraltar of Jersey City and has induction motor that might work. Cord holds gold foil company tag. Design of ship's wheel similar to FDR clocks of 1933 but this inscribed on back base "Copyright 1954 By Augusto J. Lopen." Also on back, 85% complete, a gold foil sticker with clock's title and paragraph about its dedication by designer to Magsaysay "And The Filipino People (Commemorating) Their Historic Decision To Restore (Democracy) In The Philippines." Text also credits Gibraltar Manufacturing Co. for making the clock possible. Text largely complete but loss of a few words on right side of sticker. Below clock dial is name of president elected in 1953 "Magsaysay" and base caption "At The Wheel Of The Nation." Essentially Mint except for electric cord and reverse sticker. Only example known to us. Rare.
