Item Description
First is 5.5x7" paper with one fold line that has printed signature of FDR and was created as response to letters he was not personally involved in answering. It reads "It Is My Desire That My Mail Be Answered With The Greatest Possible Promptuity. The Many Thousands Of Letters Which Have Been Received Since The Election And The Hundreds Which Come In Every Day Have Made It Impossible For Me Personally To Dedicate Or Sign Replies. I Have However Asked My Secretary To Answer Your Letter And I Trust You Will Understand. Very Sincerely Yours Franklin Roosevelt." Has .25" edge tear. Interesting and displays N. Mint. Second is FDR personally-signed letter on "The White House" stationery dated Apr. 12, 1937. Letter is 9x14" paper sheet folded on left with all text on front side which is 7x9". Letter is to "Mariano Lucca, President, Florentine Festival Society of Buffalo." Mr. Lucca helped group planning to honor Generoso Pope (see next item) with their 1937 award. FDR asks Lucca to extend his "Hearty Felicitations And Warmest Personal Greetings" and refers to Mr. Pope "As Industrialist, Editor and Publisher He Is A Citizen Whose Versatility And Usefulness Has Been Demonstrated In Many Fields Of Action." Front of sheet has 3 small tan spot areas in blank areas and lt. moisture stain on bottom right corner. The FDR full signature is large and bold. Back side of the folded sheet has 4 glue marks on the 4 corners from a mounting long ago. Comes with Hake's COA. Pair -
