Item Description
Lot of 4 soft cover books published between 1943-1947 and distributed to soldiers at the front. Books were published at a smaller typically 4x5.5" - 4.5x6.5" size so as to conveniently fit in soldier's cargo pockets. Titles included popular novels, poetry, mysteries, westerns, science fiction and classics among others. This lot includes #751 "The Big Sleep" by Raymond Chandler, one of the key titles in the entire Armed Services edition book series. Also included are 2 of the more popular titles - #745 "The War Of The Worlds" and #984 "The Man Who Was Thursday." Lot is rounded out by an Edgar Allen Poe collection. Varying degrees of handling wear, mostly along spines. Fine overall. "The War Of The Worlds" is VF. See Tarzan Armed Services book #2257 and Armed Services edition horror lot #2393.
