Item Description
Group of three letters typed and signed in ink "F. LaGuardia" written during and just after his successful campaign for mayor of NYC. All are to Mariano Lucca (see our "Scoop" write-up at catalogue front or on website featured collections as Lucca Collection). The 7x9" Acme Press photo shows him as honored guest at Lion's Club as Fusion candidate for mayor. Reverse has two worn but intact photo caption sheets with 10/13/33 date. Photo is clean but two tiny top corner tack holes. 5.5x8.5" letter from Aug. 15, 1933 is tanned and mounted to stiff card. LaGuardia thanks Lucca for his offer to aid in the campaign and says "In The Next Few Days We Shall Commence Organizing Our Forces, At Which Time We Will Communicate With You." VG. Second letter is 8.5x11" on "Fusion" stationery dated Sep. 9, 1933. LaGuardia tells Lucca "It's Encouraging Even Non-NYC Residents Are Offering Support" and thanks him. Has hairline folds, two across and one vertical. Clean. Third is 5.5x8.5" on his stationery dated Nov. 25, 1933 and he thanks Lucca for sending message of congratulations. Two hairline folds. Clean. A unique and rare group. Also see next lot. Comes with Hake's COA.
