Item Description
3.5x6.75x2.25" box patented March 16, 1915. Box lid with illustration of Rastus and "The Boxers" toys. National Toy Co., Boston, Mass. Lid text describes and prices 5 "Automatic Novelties For Talking Machines." Notation in small text reads "These Toys Do Not Fit Edison Machine With Thick Record." Directions explain toy and its functions. Noticeable aging, but box remains tight. Box VG. Complete toy consists of 5.5" tall brightly painted wood/composition figure. Hinged at arms, knees, hips and suspended on thin wire. Figure appears to "dance" on wood base when attached with metal bracket to the center of a revolving phonograph. Noticeable oxidation to metal bracket not affecting display. Toy appears complete and functional. Figure is VF with tiny traces of aging but colors remain bright and displays VF. A delightful early animated toy.
