Item Description
4.5x11.5". 1930s. Cast iron. American Beach was established in 1933 on Amelia Island on the Atlantic coast of Florida. Al Lewis, president of the African American Insurance Co. bought 200 acres in 1930 to create this beach for the benefit of the company employees. One of the few beaches in the southeast that were open to African Americans. Noticeable paint loss/oxidation. Interesting. Fine.
