7.75x10" overall. Oct., 1931. Lengthy back text explains "Facts About This Picture, The Goodyear Zeppelin Dock And The U.S.S. Akron." The first paragraph explains the commissioning of the U.S.S. Akron as the world's largest airship. Photo was taken Oct. 21, 1931 for her flight to Lakehurst, NJ, the government rigid airship training station. Text also notes "The Frame Of This Picture Is Of Genuine Aluminum. The Corner Pieces Are Of Duralumin And Were Taken From Metal Removed From The Akron During The Process Of Construction." Following text gives lengthy statics of the air dock and the USS Akron. Original hanger with grommet remains on back for hanging. Ink notation "Oct., - 1931." Light wear to frame. Fine. Print Exc.
