Lot of 4. Three are press releases from his 1933 visit to the United States. First two are 7x9". First is dated 7/15/33. Caption explains that General Balbo "On Board The USS Wilmette In Chicago After Leading A Fleet Of 24 Sea Planes In Trans-Atlantic Flight From Italy." Second is dated 7/21/33. Caption explains Balbo is seen in convertible riding in ticker tape parade in New York City. He is seen with Italian Ambassador Agusto Rosso and Generoso Pope publisher of Italian/American newspapers. Third is 6x8" photo of Balbo with caption "Balbo Becomes Chief Flying Eagle" at the Chicago World's Fair dated 7/17/33. He is shown with Sioux Indian Chief Blackhorn. Although 12 years earlier he had led a group of 4,000 thugs into a city in Italy and commenced shooting, beating and killing people for 2 days and eventually rose to power with the Fascist government to become Minister of the Air Force, he was welcomed to the United States in 1933 as a hero for commanding 24 sea planes across the Atlantic. Last is 7.75x9.75" high quality matte finish photo of him likely in later life. Photo margin trimmed. Lot overall VG/Fine.
