Item Description
Lot consists of two items. First is 3.25x6x8.75" box which holds six .5x2.75x2.75" boxes containing 8mm film reels. Lid and smaller boxes read "Official Films/Broadway Handicap The Home Movie Racing Game." Lid text also includes an exciting horse racing game for your home movie screen - six complete races w/world's leading thoroughbreds. Films and boxes holding them are not numbered or marked in any way to indicate which race would be playing. Possibly these were used as off-track betting but distributed as a game. Box lid is split on three corners, .75x.5" paper loss on upper right corner, lt. color loss along edges. Box is VG. Smaller inside boxes and films are Exc. Also included is "Gee-Wiz The Racing Game Sensation" consisting of 2.75x6x16" box w/illustrations of horses and riders. Text on lid includes Wolverine Supply & Mfg. Co., Pittsburgh, Pa. Illustration also shows yellow lightning bolts. Two lid corners are split, surface paper is separated from cardboard along upper fold which extends to 5". General wear but box is Good. Game instructions are inside box bottom. 2x6x15.5" metal game consists of six diecut horses w/riders, each of different color. Horses are slotted on an incline. A fly wheel mechanism appears at bottom and holds six ballbearings. When wheel is spun w/string attachment, steel balls gradually advance the horses up the incline. At top of incline are six corresponding color flags which will indicate the winner. Game appears to have been seldom used. c. 1940s. VF.
