Item Description
19.5x29" overall frame. 14.5x24" open area. An index card on reverse references a sale of this item by Parke Bernet Galleries (now Sotheby's) and says "This Photo Silkscreen Was An Edition Of 500." Poster has tiny bit of age tone around a thin edge next to the mat. All else remains clean. Poster text is an assemblage of quotations by Goldwater. For example, "I Can Tell You One Thing And You Can Tell Someone Else What I Said, But In The Meantime I Can Turn Around And Deny It And All You Can Do Is Call Me A Damn Liar/Our Right Of Property Is Probably Our Most Sacred Right" and his famous statement "Get Rid Of The Graduated Income Tax/Sometimes I Think This Country Would Be Better Off If We Could Just Saw Off The Eastern Seaboard And Let It Float Out To Sea." Boldly signed in pencil "Ben Shahn." Small color rubs off the black wood frame. Also see Shahn posters for Stevenson #124 and two WWII posters. Comes with Hake's COA. Multiple sales in excess of $1,000 are known.
