Auction #197 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 991 in auction 197
Item Description
7/8" beautifully colored button depicts a gold coal bucket filled with black coal lumps. Text on the bucket's side "My Only Scuttle Policy." Text is an apparent reference to TR's mediation efforts between striking miners and coal mine operators during the 5-month strike of 1902. See the print picturing TR and labor leader John Mitchell, item #24. Bottom curl of button has tiny word "Copyrighted" and reverse has W&H paper. N. Mint, displays Mint.
