Item Description
Each card commemorates their meeting in El Paso, TX October 16, 1909. The card with large sepia portraits has been slightly trimmed and is 3.25x5-5/8". Light tan toning on the front. Reverse is unused. The second card is 3.5x5-5/8", unused and with tiny text on back "Mfg'd By St. Louis Button Co., St. Louis, MO." This card has 2.25" button-like circular design showing both men, both flags and noting the place and location of the event. Tiny brown mark on upper edge but o/w N. Mint. The final card with vertical illustration of the men shaking hands names both men on the front and has a small ink inscription from the time "The Grand Old Man Of Mexico." Reverse of this card is without a stamp but does have address inked to an Altoona resident and the inked message reads "This Is Where 'The Grand Old Man' Of Mexico Met Pres. Taft Of U.S.A. It Will Go Down In History. Pres. Diaz Wore His Uniform From Paris France. Lots Of Fine Gold Lace On It." The card is signed "Hutch 10/09 El Paso." Couple of minor smudges front and back but still VF overall. A rare trio.
