20" tall box. c. late 30s. Box has illustrated paper label on end with oval picture and text "Eddie Bergen's Charlie McCarthy/An Effanbee Play Product." Box lid with old clear tape repair on one corner, o/w box is Fine. 20" tall (when wearing removable top hat). Composition head, hands and feet. Head has movable jaw and string on back. Metal wire monacle with string attached. Nicely detailed face. Charlie wears a high quality tuxedo outfit. Shirt includes mother-of-pearl-buttons, satin-like tailored top hat. Well-tailored tuxedo has satin-like pointed lapels. Charlie wears a white satin necktie. Pleated pants and satin piping down each pant leg. Clothes are Exc. A few flakes on hair. Overll doll displays Exc. Charlie wears 1" celluloid button with his picture in the center and text reading "Edgar Bergen's Charlie McCarthy/An Effanbee Play Product." Button has original W&H backpaper. Button Exc. Also included is color Xerox fold-over brochure with suggestions for "Dialogue" for Charlie as a Boy Scout.
