Item Description
2.25" litho. At left a metal tab attaches to the button a lithographed tin donkey whose body can be pulled up and down by moving a small black string attached through the nose. The movement provides the effect of the donkey kicking the elephant in the rear end. Some of these were discovered years ago with smoke damage suffered in a warehouse fire and this example has slight but rather even darkening of the cream bkg. around the words "Kick Out Depression." Rest of the paint remains quite clean except for a small mark on the very bottom edge and a small area behind the donkey's body where a tiny pin holding the donkey's rear leg rubs against the paint. Reverse has Chicago address for "Character Display Co." Our last 2 examples without the darker toning both sold for around $500 each. This example is not as clean as those but cleaner than many of the surviving examples. Fine.
