Item Description
This 1-3/8" litho rarity does not carry any maker's name and only about a half-dozen examples are known in the hobby. Truman is pictured with a large numeral "8" printed over his face. The apparent origin of this design comes from a Los Angeles press conference where news writers presented Truman with an 8-ball. Whether the design is "pro" or "anti" Truman is open to some speculation. For a litho, this piece is in superb N. Mint condition. There are 2 virtual pinpoint white dots barely visible on his face and this is as the piece was produced. On the black bkg., there are only 4 tiny white marks against the black paint. Three of these are little more than pinpoints and the largest at the bottom is only 1/16" in length. Condition overall is probably about as Mint as possible for a litho. There are documented sales of this button at the $10,000 and $12,000 levels. The value in our 2004 revised prices is $9,000. The consignor has set a most attractive opening bid -
