Item Description
7/8" purple text on cream button which has 1920s era backpaper reading in part "National Equipment Co./'Bim' The Button & Badgeman" with NYC address. This anti-war group was formed in The Netherlands in 1921 and quickly had members and affiliates throughout the world. In 1923, four individuals founded the organization in the United States. The group was extremely active in the U.S. during the 1930s and they attempted to rescue people from persecution by Franco and under the Nazis, in particular the plight of Spanish orphans and children separated from their parents. Almost certainly the first button they ever produced for use in the United States. Reverse has near invisible 1/8" hairline cello split by the collet but all else remains clean and Exc.
