Item Description
Each of these 1.25" buttons from the early 1900s is typically seen with a backpaper advertising a cigarette such as Chesterfield or plug tobacco such as Pick. It was always something of an event when we found one of these with the backpaper reading "Cracker Jack 5¢ Candied Popcorn & Roasted Peanuts." All 9 of these buttons have that label. Left to right and top to bottom, condition is as follows: #1-Exc., #2-Tiny edge off backpaper, #3-.25" dark spot on the edge of the backpaper, #4-1/16" dark spot on the backpaper, #5-light tanning of the backpaper, #6-N. Mint, #7-smaller and darker dark spots on the lower 15% of the paper, #8-backpaper lightly tanned, #9-celluloid has a little browning of the woman's gown at the bottom and a little tan color that blends well with the green on the right side. The backpaper is lightly tanned with a couple tiny darker spots. Eight of the 9 celluloid buttons display essentially Mint. A remarkable collection assembled over many, many years.
