Item Description
Mickey stands 3" tall, total height to top of umbrella is 4.5" tall. c. 1932. Mickey's name appears on right side of his body, copyright is on left, underside of umbrella is marked "Germany." From an exceptional series of Mickey and Minnie metal figures, some of which were designed as useful objects such as ashtrays. This stand-alone figure is version which holds an umbrella and we believe the first we've seen with umbrella in his right hand as opposed to left. The umbrella's handle/shaft has several bends which appear to be as produced so that the umbrella entirely covers his head. Umbrella top was originally fastened by solder although this piece is now loose but stays in place for display. All-over moderate aging as well as scattered traces of paint wear in the form of small chips and flakes. Missing wire tail but comes with an expertly crafted replacement that could be attached if desired. VG. A great, high quality figure, all pieces in this series are scarce. From the Michael J. Stern Collection.
