Item Description
First is 1.25" from 1897 with W&H backpaper. Reads "The National Encampment G.A.R. 1897/Camp Jewett." Shows aerial view of large tent plus hundreds of small tents in neat formations. Rim text a hair off-center as made but totally clean. Second is rare 1899 reunion button with very peculiar reverse. Front shows Union and Confederate soldier shaking hands with text "Reunion Of The Blue And The Gray At Evansville, Ind. October 1899." Right side has a little stain blending over the word Evansville. Reverse is a solid back with a flat metal covering that has large cut-out circle at the center. Upper edge has fixed 1" vertical pin. Worn paper at the circle center has readable text "...ouse Bros./Head To Foot/Out Fitters/Evansville, Ind." Some tiny paper fragments gone but text is largely readable. Next is 1.25" showing bearded bald man on the front with text "Department of Kansas, G.A.R. Washington D.C. Oct. 6th 1902." Light age on the reverse W&H paper but the cello displays Mint. Next is 1.25" showing the veterans badge. Text a bit off center but reads "G.A.R. National Encampment, Washington, D.C., Oct. 6-11, 1902." Reverse has W&H paper and cello displays Mint. Last is "50th Anniversary/1863-1913/Battle of Gettysburg." Shows flags and soldiers from opposing sides joining hands. Backpaper by Shapiro & Karr of Philadelphia. Exc. and displays Mint.
