Item Description
5.5x7.5x9" tall beautifully painted and glazed ceramic with mark on underside for this Italian company. This company signed a contract with Disney in 1947 which lasted for about ten years. This particular piece is c. 1947. One of 3 different to depict Donald as a golfer. This one depicts Donald strolling along as he holds a removable wood club in one hand. There are a number of pinpoint air holes as fired/produced mostly concentrated to left arm and right side of body. None take away from its overall appearance and none are really visible when viewed straight-on. There are a number of small scattered flakes with color touch-ups, all which blend nicely and are only noticeable upon very close inspection. Few tiny glaze nicks, including tip of tail. Again, none of the defects take away from its overall appearance which remains totally bright and glossy, striking in its large and dynamic design. Fine. Rare, the only other time in our 42 years we've offered this figurine (which had a slightly different style club and hat was in green and white checkered pattern), it sold for $3,738. Among the nicest Donald figurines.
