Item Description
2.5" tall die-cut celluloid with the same image on each side was originally designed as a flip with a straight pin hanger at the top peak of the clown's hat. A tiny fragment of celluloid snapped off the hat top and thus the pin is missing. The piece still remains wonderfully graphic and intriguing depicting a man in a clown costume and white face with his arms and legs extending from an egg shell. Text is "Ziz Feltmans' Coney Island." Feltmans' opened in 1867 as a tiny beachfront stand but expanded into a block-long establishment including a Bavarian beer garden, dance hall, theater, carousel, bath house and a very popular roller coaster called the "Ziz." The founder, Charles Feltman, was the inventor of the hot dog. The item is 98% complete and what is here displays Mint. Only example we've seen. Rare.
