Item Description
3.25" tall die-cut clear plastic encasing colorful full figure image of famous clown. A brass link chain leads to a second pin designed as a sign reading in full "Lou Jacobs The Ringling Bros. And Barnum & Bailey Circus Clown." This famous clown joined Ringling in 1924 and worked professionally in the circus for over 60 years. He is credited for popularizing the clown car and is often cited as the originator of the red rubber ball nose. Given the item's construction, we date it to the 1930s or 40s. Small bit of fading on the orange lettering on the sign but the clown figure's colors remain bright as produced. Only example we've seen.
