Item Description
Each of these buttons is part of a long tradition in the 30s and 40s among Philadelphia area high schools of a class artist designing a button for the graduating class. Many designs pictured known comic characters although we cannot specifically put a name to any of those shown on these 3 buttons. First is a 1945 button 2.25" issued for "Edward Bok Vocational School." Center has high horizontal ridge caused by the reverse bar pin. Although the surface is quite uneven, the celluloid remains totally clean and the piece still displays Exc. The following 2 are each 2.5". The first for "KHS 1948" was probably issued by Kensington High School. The last for "WPHS 49'ERS" is likely from West Philadelphia High School. This one has .25" hairline cello split on the reverse and the cello makes a tiny bump on the top edge but both of these remain totally clean. All are rare and very limited issues for small graduating classes.
