Item Description
Large 2.25" with wonderful color portraits of "Buck" and "Wilma" with their names on their uniforms. Button has a little faint gray age tone largely scattered around the outer perimeter. There are numerous but exceedingly tiny bumps on the celluloid surface a little noticeable to the touch but hardly showing even in reflected light. The reverse metal back has somewhat heavier than normal layer of brown oxidation over its surface. Button still displays with high gloss and we would describe it as near VF. It is the only example known and was formerly in the collection of Robert Lesser, although for about the past two decades it has been in the Hake Collection and comes with Hake's COA. The item is apparently advertising a hearing aid for children. The piece is documented in Lesser's book "A Celebration Of Comic Art And Memorabilia" on page 223 where he pictures an advertisement from the Buck Rogers copyright holder John F. Dille Co. of Chicago. The ad is titled "Announcing New Products For 1937." This is the last of 7 listed products and the entry reads "Buck Rogers Acousticon/Dictograph Products Co., Inc., New York City." The only known example and the example used for the photo in "Hake's Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" where this is listed as item BRG-101. Only known example.
