10.5x13" die-cut 16-page Christmas premium by Sears, Roebuck & Co. ©1939 Famous Artists Syndicate and produced by American Advertising Corp. Front cover art of Santa Claus holding his sack filled by numerous comic strip characters including Dick Tracy, Little Orphan Annie, Gasoline Alley characters, Smitty, Moon Mullins and other Chicago Tribune Syndicate characters. Back cover pictures characters standing at base of large Christmas tree covered w/toys. Centerfold has specialty art of comic strip characters as Christmas shoppers at Sears Toyland including Dick Tracy looking at a car, Moon Mullins looking at a toy rifle plus Terry, Pat, Burma and Connie looking over sporting goods. Herby sits on Santa's lap as Orphan Annie waits her turn. Remainder of book includes Sunday page comic strip reprints of Moon Mullins, The Gumps, Winnie Winkle, Tiny Tim, Dick Tracy, Gasoline Alley, Harold Teen, Little Orphan Annie, Smilin' Jack, Little Joe, Terry and The Pirates, Smitty in full color or shades of red. Most comic strips are ©1938. Contents also include page of bw panels from various comic strips for user to color. Light handling wear w/pinch creases to spine. Covers are lightly aged as normal for this type of newsprint paper. Although showing some age, overall a Fine copy w/Exc., unused contents. Rarely seen any nicer. Great design and color. Scarce.
