Item Description
8.25x11" library-bound "Lithomount Pamphlet Binder" by Gaylord Bros. Inc. contains 7.25x10" eight-page essay by EC Comics founder M.C. Gaines on comic books. This publication was featured in "Print, A Quarterly Journal Of The Graphic Arts" Vol. 3 #3 from 1943 and is noted as being reprinted from such on inside back cover. This essay was one of the first serious academic looks at comic books, comic strips and comic production. "Wonder Woman" comic books are featured in production segment, and again being shown in photo of Wonder Woman creator Dr. William Moulton Marston, artist H.G. Peter, editor Sheldon Mayer and Gaines himself. This same page features an image of the membership certificate for the Junior Justice Society of America club. This edition came from the Drake University Library and as such has the usual library markings, stamps and check-out card/sleeve. Tape binding. Moderate wear to spine. VG/Fine. Interior contents have handling wear and are Fine. Rare publication. Listed in the current edition of Overstreet on page 629.
