Item Description
Color Keys are painted by animated feature art directors and are typically the master shot or establishing scene of a sequence that, once painted, enables the background artists to have a visual reference for the color treatment of the scenes taking place in that location. In many cases, the characters are also painted against the scenes to see how their colors or shadings will blend or stand out from the sequence bkg. colors. This approach enables the director to see how the sequence will look and what changes will need to take place in the color scheme. 11.25x11.75" professionally framed double-matted presentation contains art board w/acrylic painting of Rafiki from 1994's "The Lion King" Disney animated feature. Scene is in Rafiki's tree where he is painting the image of Simba as a cub using the juices of a fruit on the tree's trunk. Mint.
