Item Description
Lot of 16. 3.5x5.5" paperdolls issued by Lion Coffee patented and copyrighted 1898 by Palmer Cox and printed by The Thomas & Wiley Litho Co. by permission of Arnold Print Works. Characters depicted include "Soldier (2), Russian (2), Dunce, Englishman, Sage, Frenchman, Dutchman, Esquimau (2), German Peasant, Dude, Japanese, Canadian, The Jockey." One "Russian" has had feet trimmed out and is missing base for standing. One "Esquimau" and "The Jockey" were not issued by Lion Coffee but instead by Brownies Biscuits in 1894. "Dude, Frenchman, Englishman" have standee portions of bases removed o/w intact. These previously mentioned are Fine overall, rest have lt. traces of wear and are Fine/VF overall.
