Item Description
Pair of 8.5x10.75" sheets w/"Outcault Advertising Co." letterhead showing nice bw illustration of Buster writing resolutions as Tige reads and laughs. Buster Brown creator R. F. Outcault's facisimile signature appears beneath art. Typed letters are dated Jul. 14, 1909 and Mar. 6, 1911. Both are addressed to people/businesses that had ordered Buster Brown items and each is signed in black ink by same person. Folded as mailed. 1909 letter has scattered moderate aging at margins, 1/8" chip to left margin. Fine/VF overall. Comes w/12x18" bw photo print showing large street scene w/"The Only Original Buster Brown At Grove City, PA." Scene shows child dressed as Buster w/dog that looks very much like Tige standing on stage in front of large group of children in front of shoe store. One interesting note, newsboy is present w/"Saturday Evening Post" newspaper bag. c. early 1900s. Overall heavy moisture staining, handling wear at margins, .5" and 1" staining at top center margin. VG.
