3x4.5x2" wedge-shaped cardboard box w/hinged lid contains velvet-covered insert which holds 1.25" dia. chrome luster metal case. Repeated dial design on box lid is marked "Trademark" along w/"Popeye" name. No maker indicated and w/o copyright, but c. 1948. Watch was a production item. Features image of Popeye from waist up at center w/usual numerals, Olive Oyl taking the place of 3 o'clock, Swee'pea taking the 6 o'clock area and Wimpy taking 9 o'clock. Has original brown leather straps and small store price tag w/inked price. Overwound and while the minute hand is attached to the center post, it is loose so watch cannot be set. Still displays Mint. Packaging shows slighest wear but is VF. Scarce watch w/rare box. The only other time we've offered a boxed example of this watch, it sold for $1830.
